Maria's decade of patient advocacy across 4 countries, acquired clinical background (DClinPsy, Addictions MSc), NHS placements, and work with neurodivergent clients struggling with complex health needs in the UK highlighted the inefficiencies in the current systems. This drove her to create a product truly designed for patients and carers and their real health stories and health data  challenges.

Alongside an academic career, including a PhD in Quantum Computing (Oxford) and teaching (Cambridge, Oxford, Sussex), Hex has been a Senior Data Scientist at Stonehaven, where they developed a Bayesian MRP machine learning model. Their other academic work includes Trust in Human-Computer Interactions, with a focus on human-computer interactions and chatbot privacy.

Designed a privacy-preserving algorithm that allowed counteracting malicious accounts without exposing users' information, which was approved by the Data Protection Commission.

Perdita’s background in psychology, clinical research, and digital health operations, including work with sleep cohorts and patient-facing environments, revealed persistent cognitive and behavioural barriers in engaging with personal health data. This inspired her to contribute to Health Data Avatar, making health information intelligible, actionable, and user-centred.
